The little things in life...

I've just got back from a lovely sunny walk along the canal with K, we live just 3 mins away from it and it's great to get out and about for the first time in ages. It's not so nice in the winter and am finally over my cold.

It got me thinking about how much I love the UK countryside. I grew up in a very rural setting so feel a great peace when in that environment. We will be living in a pretty rural setting in India but amongst less familiar flora and fauna and without that cool breeze. I will miss the dandelions, cow parsley and hawthorn. I will miss the familiar birdsongs which will be relaced by peacock calls early in the morning. I'll even miss the church bells which will be replaced by the shrill music of the local temples.

It's that awareness of the small things that I'll miss that makes me want to appreciate them all the more in our final few months here. It doesn't detract from how excited I am to be making the move but means I can make the most of our time here. For my son too, who'll barely remember living over here when he's older.

Hope you all have a great bank holiday. L xx

4 months to go!

Good afternoon, the sun is once again shining outside and I am blessed with the lurgy so can't go outside to enjoy it without much sneezing, spluttering and eye watering. Still, have a nice big bunch of daffs beside me to bring a little sunshine indoors. Happy May day to you all (or Beltane for those in the know)! It truly feels like spring is here. :)

Can't believe it's been nearly a month since I last wrote. We are still feeling a little in limbo. Have sent off our applications to the AV entry service and are now awaiting the letters of recommendation. In other news we found out that our luggage allowance will be fairly big so have gone ahead and bought one of our suitcases. I have already started filling it with this and that. I keep looking around our flat and working out when we can begin to get rid of the larger things, the armchairs, tables and computer desk and deciding that is it not time yet. The plan is to eventually move into one room whilst we redecorate the other rooms but again, it won't be until a few weeks before we go. I'm just so impatient!

Have another load of stuff bound for the charity shop and more yet to come, it's nice to know that we're gradually getting there. There's also a few bits to pick up before we go to take with us. We'll be eating a lot of salads when we're there so I want to get a salad spinner as it'll make life just a little bit easier. Would love to get a decent food processor as want to learn how to make raw treats (we won't have an oven in the new house so will miss baking goodies) like this: http://www.nutritionistinthekitch.com/2012/11/21/healthy-eatmore-fudge-squares/ but think we'll have to see if we can get one once we've moved, it'd be a bit bulky!

In other news, I've been trying out a workout called the 30 day shred, it's pretty tough but has been fun pushing myself a little further. I want to get my fitness level higher before we move as might not be able to settle into a new workout routine for a while, as well as settling in. I'm not a total fitness freak but it invigorates and motivates me and I find it works best by doing a little every morning. We also went to the circus last week when it came to town, K had never been and I hadn't since I was about his age. Do check out: http://www.circuswonderland.co.uk/ if they come to a town near you, it was great fun!

Anyway, that's it for now - off to make a honey and lemon drink and resume looking longingly out the window. Enjoy the sunshine! L xx
